Baldivis District Sporting Complex | Superintendent

Stage 1 – Civil works. The Baldivis District Sporting Complex is approximately 16 hectares consisting of playing fields, 2 pavilions, 18 outdoor multipurpose hard courts, indoor recreation centre and an outdoor youth space. The complex will become the home ground of the local netball associated, football and cricket clubs. The first stage of the project is the civil works which involves the preparation of the ovals and inground services and upgrade of Eighty Road.

Stage 2 – Building and Landscaping were divided into 3 separable portions.

• Separable Portion 1 – Staged Landscaping to be completed 12 weeks after the date of receiving access to the Site.
• Separable Portion 2 – Construction of the Maintenance Shed, District Pavilion, Change Rooms, Northern Carpark, and the Landscaping depicted in the Landscaping drawings. Practical Completion is 52 weeks after the date of receiving access to the Site.

• Separable Portion 3 – Indoor and All remaining works. Practical Completion is 60 weeks after the date of receiving access to the Site

Role

Successful Projects has been appointed Client’s Representative by the City of Rockingham as the Project Superintendent to deliver this major community project. Our role was to ensure the project will be delivered in accordance with the heavily amended contract and to meet the requirements of the stakeholders. We managed and administered the project through the various stages such as: Contract Administration, Practical Completion and through to the Defect Liability Period. The role involved assessment and certification of Extension of Time, Variation Claims and Progress Claim, Monthly progress reviews and financial reporting.

Outcomes

After successful delivery of the Stage 1 Civil Works, Successful Projects were appointed Superintendent for the Stage 2 works.

As Project Superintendent, we have established and maintained a cooperative environment via proactive, fair and efficient administration of the Contract whilst achieving market pricing for the additional scope. This approach has resulted in the completion of extensive works by others during the Contract timeframe to minimise the impact to the Principal of program extensions and further, close alignment of the consultant team and focus on the requirements of the Contractor is resulting in quality of delivery.
