Neerabup GWTP | Planning Engineer

The Neerabup GWTP currently produces up to 100ML/d of treated water, distributed by the Clear Water Pumping Station to the Neerabup Reservoir and two major distribution mains servicing the Carabooda-Neerabup zone. Water production in excess of zone demand is transferred from Neerabup Reservoir to Wanneroo Reservoir.
The scope of the project includes design, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of the upgrade of the Neerabup Groundwater Treatment Plant from 100 ML/d to 150 ML/d, its associated works and groundwater abstraction bores. The upgrade to 150ML/d is required to cater for production of an additional 11GL per year of treated groundwater from Leederville and Yarragadee Aquifers bores located at four sites. The GWTP Upgrade must be capable of processing groundwater to enable up to an additional 50ML/d to be treated.

Role

Successful Projects were appointed to develop and maintain the contract program for Neerabup Groundwater Treatment Plant Upgrade project. Our role was to capture design, procurement and construction requirements and prepare a detailed project program as per the requirements. The project is complex in nature since the construction works took place between three planned shutdowns, with commissioning targeted to take place after annual shutdown in June-July 2020.

As joint venture with a European firm; it had multiple stakeholders to manage planning expectations. Multiple sub-contractors working at sites on multiple disciplines. The complexity was to align engineering packages with procurement and construction work packages to ensure construction requirements were addressed prior to actual construction dates. The development of site-wise, area-wise construction works & commissioning plan was required at a later stage of the project.

Outcomes

Industry experienced Senior Planning Consultant from Successful Projects is providing project planning services, assisting Project Manager and site project team in clearly establishing lookaheads, critical path and providing weekly status dashboard updates.
