Surfing WA New Headquarters
Surfing WA Headquarters is a new build addition to the coastline at South Trigg Beach, WA. Due to the increasing popularity of the surf school and events, the new Headquarters is to relocate further south from its current location to an improved space away from the pinch point of the commercial buildings, to an underutilised parcel of land between the two main car parks at Trigg Beach south. The new facility houses a modern administration area, surf school training & meeting rooms, boardroom, coaches and student training services, storage for surf boards and wet suit.
Role
Successful Projects were appointed as Project Manager and Project Superintendent by Surfing WA INC to deliver this major community project. We managed the design and development application process and steered the project through the various stages of Design Management; Design Review Panels; Community Consultation and Planning; Contract Documentation; Tender Stage to Contract Administration, Practical Completion and through to the Defect Liability Period. We have introduced a Guarantee Maximum Price procurement model to provide certainty of budget, to encourage innovation and collaborative delivery.
Outcomes
The project experienced some unforeseen delays which were tabled. We worked with the community activity groups to mitigate concerns and objections and implemented risk mitigation strategies to address concerns. The grand opening ceremony was celebrated December 3, 2022
